My name is Audrey and I watch your news very often. I watched a report that was done on Camp Lejeune contaminated water. It mainly talked about the forgotten military veterans.
What happened to the story on the forgotten babies that died?
There were hundreds of baby’s that died at Camp Lejeune from 1959 to 1990. There are so many babies that died in Jacksonville N.C. The national cemetery calls that section “Baby Heaven” because of this. I would like to see a program/report done on the forgotten babies at Camp Lejeune.
This appears to be a huge secret. Why is this such a huge secret or should I say cover up? I and others have done countless research only to discover lies. I was told that a lot of research was done and is still going on, however I have not found that to be true. I personally kept getting the runaround along with a lot of omission. I have never gotten any real answers.
It appears things have come to a complete stop and it is horrible. These children are just forgotten about. They are barely mentioned. Over the years several studies were completed, none were completed on stillbirth. One person has located over two-hundred death certificates that say the cause of death is “unknown”.
I can not find one study that was done on the children that were born stillbirth. I have found several on miscarriages. Why do you think this is? My child was one of those babies and this mystery still haunts and hurts me to this day. Please do a story on the forgotten babies.
Editor’s Note: We have shared personal stories that have highlighted “Baby Heaven” in the past, and shared anecdotal research on the topic. But, you are right that in general, most media have not given it their full attention, as is the case with many aspects of Lejeune contamination.
There was some past coverage by Newsweek, the Washington Post, and a portion dedicated to the topic in Mike Magner’s book “A Trust Betrayed”. I would encourage you to read all of those. As a general rule in traditional media, if there’s nothing “new”, there’s nothing to cover. Perhaps that’s why this has not been updated in a while. However, we’ll keep searching and update this topic in the near future to add any new details that we uncover.
For further reference, here are 4 reports referenced and summaries we’ve posted from 2014 – https://www.civilianexposure.org/summary-of-all-2014-atsdr-studies-and-impact/. In addition, here is a background post from ATSDR on related studies – https://www.atsdr.cdc.gov/hs/lejeune/intro.html . According to that page, “ATSDR had intended to analyze fetal death data, but existing records were too incomplete to be useful.” Status of any further attempt at studies on stillbirths is unknown.

In reference to the comment about lost babies, my mom suffered at least three miscarriages when her and our dad drank and cooked with that water.
I was almost a forgotten baby I was born in camp le jeune hospital 3ib 13 oz I could fit in a shoebox, also my privates was inside out when I was born ,I had to stay in the hospital another month in a incubator. Now I’m 55 years old and have epilepsy, and nerve damage. Trying to live. It was not my fault I came out like this but I ask them to correct the wrongs that have been done .please
My mother had 2 miscarriages from the camp Lejeune water supply and I tried to retain counsel but the lawyers had since dropped my case due to incomplete medical records. President Biden just opened a can of worms that no one can use. Medical records from those times are nearly impossible to get. Why would Biden sign into law for victims of Camp LeJeune when no who can prove a thing. I’m completely frustrated by this. If anyone has a complete list of the Babies from Camp LeJeune please send it to me at BendersMovingCompany@gmail.com Thank You…
