It is the mission of Civilian Exposure to seek out or highlight all forms of media exposure for this issue. It is crucial to have national media outlets shed light on this story. The more we can keep this injustice in the spotlight, the more likely those exposed to Camp Lejeune Contamination will see corrective action and legislation.

Not only do we face water and soil contamination aboard military installations like Camp Lejeune, we also find that the same chemicals involved at Camp Lejeune can have just as deadly of an impact in other locations around the country. Such is the case with this Washington Post report from Massachusetts regarding PCE. The links between water and soil toxins to a variety of severe health problems, including stillbirths, are becoming all too apparent. That is, they are becoming all too apparent to everyone but those who should show accountability. As the mountain of stories and studies continues to pile up, the tide is slowly turning.

I was reading the New Bern Sun Journal editorial regarding the VA beginning to implement the The Honoring America’s Veterans and Caring for Camp Lejeune Families Act of 2012 (H.R. 1627). Link to the article is at the end of this paragraph. I encourage you to pop it open and take a read, then read the commentary below. Suffice it to say, the article tries to sum up Camp Lejeune contamination, but leaves out a lot of information and research. While the editorial does call out and criticize the two years of lag from time of passage to implementation, it also characterizes the VA’s moves for assistance as finally “light at the end of the tunnel” for marines and their families. Unfortunately, that’s far from the case.

In an ongoing mission to raise awareness regarding Camp Lejeune water and soil contamination, one of the goals of CivilianExposure.org is to seek out opportunities to bring more media attention to the issue. With so many civilian and military personnel exposed from the 1940s to the 1990s, it is imperative that all information be spread through the broadest media outreach possible. Many have potentially moved or relocated to all parts of the world and may not even be aware of their exposure, recent studies or potential available assistance.
